Getting Started
Basic Information for the Season:
Soccer Registration begins in April and runs through May each year. Families may register their children after that time, but a late fee will apply and players will only be added if space on teams is available. Registration officially closes on September 2.
Practice Begins in mid August once clubs have chosen their coaches and created team rosters. In general, teams practice twice a week for one hour on each of those nights.
Jamborees are held by each Club in late August to kick off the season. Your coach will provide the specific date. All teams within the club come together for a great day of friendly soccer scrimmages
Team & Individual Photos are taken at club Jamborees each year.
Playing Season runs for ten weeks, from the first Saturday after Labor Day until mid November.
Elk Grove Teams are not co-ed. Teams are generally age pure; that means, for example, that 6 year olds play against 6 year olds and 7 year olds against 7 year olds. At the EGYSL’s Board’s approval, some exceptions may be made for players to play up. Other exceptions may also be made for children with disabilities. EGYSL strongly urges parents to have their children play with their own age groups.
What you will need for registration:
• 1x1 inch photo of child (please don't cut).
• Copy of official birth certificate, issued by State/City/County. It will be kept on file with the Club. It will not be returned so please bring a copy.
• Checkbook to pay for Registration Fees. Family discounts start with the third child.
Check our registration page for more information
What the kids will need to start playing:
• Shin Guards.
• Soccer Cleats (no toe cleats).
• Soccer ball of correct size. (See our Rules of the Game for the correct size ball.)
• Water Bottle.
• Uniforms will be supplied by the club.
