COERVER SKILLS ACADEMY
Coaches
The EG Select Club is excited to be offering Select teams the opportunity to participate in a week long soccer camp this June in Elk Grove. Based on a recommendation from Mark Dickerson, the Exec Board met with Ron Benjamin (Director of Nor Cal Coerver) to discuss bringing his camp to EG. We were extremely impressed by Ron and what his camp has to offer. The camp uses the Coerver Coaching Method many of you already know the Coerver teaching method.
The cost is $125 per player. In order for Ron to secure coaches for the camp, I need to know by Friday March 7, which teams are interested in participating. When a team emails me they wish to attend the camp, I will estimate that 75%-80% of their roster will attend, yet realizing the actual number of camp attendees per team may vary some. Already we have eight teams committed to attending the camp. Each participating team will receive registration forms. The completed forms and a single “team” check will be given to me and I will then pass it on to Ron. The camp is restricted to EG Select players. More information on when registration forms will be distributed and collected with a check will be known soon.
The camp puts a strong emphasis on the technical development of each player: footwork repetitions, a wide range of attacking and space moves (20-25), small sided training and games. Pressure will be increased as needed to ensure that the players are being pushed to their top technical speed. One of the most important aspects of the Coerver training method is the comfort level with the ball that the players obtain throughout the week. Balance, agility and being able to maneuver the ball with various surfaces of the feet is the key to the program. The “Pyramid of Player Development” is the foundation of the training: Ball Mastery, Moves 1v1, Passing and Receiving, Group Attack and Finishing. Attached is a daily schedule (may vary). As far as the coaches go, all of the coaches are "C" licensed or higher and have been working with the Coerver Camps for over 5 years.
Coaches are encouraged to attend and take notes as you hopefully will continue with the footwork exercises throughout the season.

LIVE SCAN INFORMATION
Click here for Live Scan Form
Coaches,
Attached is a PDF of the EGYSL Live Scan Request Form that is used to get fingerprinted for our club purposes. An individual needing to get fingerprinted can take this form to any Live Scan site and get fingerprinted. The site MAY require the use of their own three-part form and if so, the information on our form must be copied to their form. If the information on our form is not used the fingerprinting will not be sufficient for our purposes and we won't receive notice of the fingerprinting being done. The individual will also need to have their drivers license with them for verification.
All new coaches and all new assistant coaches must be fingerprinted UNLESS you were fingerprinted as part of EGYSL LAST YEAR. If you were fingerprinted in years prior to last year or you were done last year but not as part of EGYSL you must be redone. In addition, any individual that will be assisting you with tryouts must also be fingerprinted BEFORE they will be able to step out onto the field. In the interest of protecting our children there can be no leeway here. No fingerprint...no help.
The process will take several days to be processed so I would suggest that anyone that needs to get this taken care of should do so right away.
There will be a charge for the fingerprinting but the club will reimburse the individual for the cost. Just bring the receipt to the coaches meeting and Jarrod will issue a check to cover the cost.
As a note, if the individual does not show a clean background check they will not be able to coach or assist in tryouts.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks, Kai

Tips on How to Set Up Your Tournament / Player Paperwork.
1. Get a small 3 ring binder. Fill it with about 20 clear document protectors. ( the amount of protectors depends on the number of kids on the team)
2. 1st page is the yellow golden rosters. Some tournaments may ask you to laminate it. It is not required by CYSA policy.
3. The 2nd page are extra coaching slips.
4. The 3rd sheet is coaching and referee licenses.
5. Using your document protectors, flip the 4th page. On the backside of the 4th page you flipped, place the medical release of the first person found on your Golden roster. On the front of the 5th page, place the birth certificate of the same child. On the backside of page 5, the second child's medical release form is placed.....The pattern continues from then on.
6. Don't forget your player passes.
The intent is that your paperwork will be processed as quickly as possible. Sometime it takes a while to get through the tournament lines. Everyone becomes frustrated when coaches are obviously not ready and take 3-4 times longer. If you can open your book and are able to see both the med release and birth certificates for the same child, while cross checking against the player card, it makes things more efficient.
